Legal Assistant

Department: Legal
Location: Fort Worth, TX

OBJECTIVE/SUMMARY:

Supports the bank’s Legal Department with coordination of its vendor management program including data collection, software data input, and monitoring of due dates for various vendor contracts and due diligence requirements. The Legal Assistant will also prepare and interpret legal documents for review, approval, and use by the bank’s attorneys; assist the Legal Department with the collection, organization, and maintenance of legal documents; and provide general support to the Legal Department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Work with internal departments across the bank to provide thorough monitoring and centralized documentation of vendor activities.
  • Review and interpret vendor contract terms and conditions.
  • Use software support tools and materials to manage and track vendor contracts.
  • Provide high-level administrative support to the Legal Department.
  • Assist with interpretation of customer corporate records and documents.
  • Collect requested data and information from various sources including email and other correspondence, meeting minutes and records, and other documents; prepare summaries of findings and/or other related written correspondence as requested.
  • Assist with the review of trust documents and power of attorney documents.
  • May conduct research (within skills and expertise) to assist with projects or inquiries.
  • Prepare agendas and schedules for meetings, conferences, and other assigned events; take and distributes minutes or other notes as requested.
  • Respond to and resolve administrative inquiries and questions.
  • Perform general office duties as required.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

SKILLS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Hard Skills: Proficient in basic computer operations. Proficient in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Able to type efficiently. Strong editing, grammar, and proofreading skills.
  • Soft Skills: Good verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, organization skills, can-do attitude, critical thinking skills, decision-making skills sense of urgency, and strong work ethic. Interact in a professional, courteous manner with customers, co-workers, vendors, etc. Maintain strict confidentiality in accordance with the bank’s policy. Maintain personal grooming and company dress and appearance standards. Maintain company attendance standards.Typical Physical Demands: Regularly required to talk and hear. Requires sitting for an extending period with some walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and crouching. Occasional light lifting not over 25lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • College degree or paralegal certification preferred.
  • Prior experience working in a law office or corporate legal department preferred.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Satisfactory credit and criminal background check.
